Emergency Medical Management Solutions was formed to address the need for a high quality billing service that are familiar with the needs of local EMS providers, and that can maximize potential revenue by combining advanced technology with a thorough knowledge of issues specific to local EMS agencies. Our knowledge of, and relationships with, local healthcare facilities and insurers further enhances our ability to improve revenue to our clients.
Beginning operations in 2006, we are becoming the ‘Gold Standard' of EMS billing services. Our growth strategy is not to be the biggest, but to be the best in terms of customer service and results.
Leadership
Wm. “Darrald” Atwood, EMT-P
Darrald has over 25 years of senior level management experience, much of it in the EMS field. In 1984, he co-founded Valley EMS Inc., the first paramedic-intercept model service in CT. Darrald, with his wife Theresa, owned and operated New England Ambulance Service, Inc., from 1986 through 1994. A licensed paramedic since 1984, Darrald has been active in EMS for 30 years. He trained hundreds of EMS providers and has worked with volunteer and commercial ambulance providers in both patient care and senior management roles.
Theresa Atwood
Theresa has over 20 years of senior level health care experience. As the President and CEO of Connecticut Health Enterprises, and a principal of Atwood Associates, LLC, she has responsibility for all aspects of business management including new business development, client relations and service integrity. These companies provide revenue cycle analysis, and insurance/ managed care contracting services to hospitals in Connecticut and the Northeast.
Michael Vasaturo
Michael is a Certified Public Accountant with over 25 years of experience. While in Public accounting with Ernst and Young, he served a variety of clients in insurance and other industries before entering private industry. He has held various senior management positions including CFO and COO and has extensive experience in business management including cost analysis, planning, and process improvement to maximize efficiencies. Michael currently serves on a number of Boards.
Experience
The years of experience of the principals of EM²S in EMS billing is unequalled by other billing providers. As the owner and chief operating officer of a commercial ambulance service, Darrald was at the forefront of developing electronic claims submission beginning in 1986. In addition to billing for his own company's calls, his ambulance service also served as the billing agent for a high volume paramedic intercept provider. Successful collection of EMS revenues was critical to the viability of both organizations. Largely at the urging and request of EMS providers, EM²S was created in 2006 to fill a need for responsive, high quality billing services administered by individuals with a demonstrated record of success in revenue cycle management. Our customized and partnering approach with each one of our clients has resulted in increased revenue recovery for them since they transitioned to EM²S.
